We wanted to put on a presentation of our own for our Flemish neighbours, who also speak and read Dutch. The result was an afternoon of discussion in November 2024 in the heart of Ghent. The lead author, Sybilla Claus, the education expert Marianne Driessen and the pathologist Ruben Buijs each took the stage in turn. The latter two also contributed to the book. The afternoon was chaired by Martin Harlaar, editor of the book 'Het genderexperiment' (2024).

There was a striking number of doctors in the audience, along with a handful of lawyers. The presence of Jan Cor from the organisation Cry for Recognition was particularly welcome: it is a support group for parents whose children have gender dysphoria. A great deal of useful information can be found on their website.

The Flemish bestselling author Griet Vandermassen holds a doctorate in philosophy and a Master's degree in Germanic languages. Her eminently readable 'Dames voor Darwin' (2019) is essential reading for anyone interested in psychological differences between the sexes. During the second feminist wave we believed that every child could develop entirely freely. We now know from research in biology and evolutionary psychology that there are significant differences between girls and boys. In 'Gender Rebels' we discuss 'Dames voor Darwin' at some length, and we were delighted that Vandermassen could be present.
