Rebel Girls The Project: Uplifting stories about courageous young women

Rebel Girls

How free are our girls today? Rebel Girls shares critical and uplifting stories about modern taboos.

Look no further! This is the place to be for women and girls who believe in biology and defending women's rights. The website Rebel Girls is, like the book, filled to the brim with critical stories about the taboos of our time. From online madness and self-diagnosis on social media, to confusion about biology and the oppression of women in society and religion.

We demand fair sports for girls, and the safety and fun of single sex spaces for girls and women, in schools and shops, in sport clubs and gyms, everywhere it is needed. Public spaces should be safe for you as well. Sexual violence and leering: boys and men have to stop with their harassment.

We love girls and women, and want you to be strong and financially independent so you can conquer the world. Find positivity in your life, live a healthy lifestyle, make a plan for your future and go for it!

A special word to our young friends who are gender non-conforming, and think they might be lesbian, bisexual or transgender. Always remember: you are okay just as you are! If you are lesbian, just know there are many wonderful girls like you out there. Leave your screen, go out in real life and find them. If you think you might be a man, believe us: you are most probably not. Nobody is born in the wrong body. It might take time to find the right woman, but once you do meet other proud lesbians, you'll be able to solve the puzzle for yourself and be happy.

Another important note is for the many girls and young women from migrant origin who suffer from religious or cultural restraints, like being forced to wear the hijab, and are even in danger for wanting to live a free life. Be patient, make your own plan for your future. Set reasonable goals for yourself, and ask help from women and organisations you trust. You are not alone! Many young women are already out there, and waiting for you to join them.

Join our Rebel Girls Project which protects the rights of girls and young women – and sparkles with our great love for real women. We started out in The Netherlands and published our Beautiful Big Book (368 pages) with full colour pictures in Dutch in 2024. It contains the contributions of 45 girls and women from several countries, three men and two dogs.

Our motto: never stop a successful team! We wanted to share the stories of young women finding their way in life with a bigger audience from countries where Generation Z struggles with the same problems. We pushed for our feminist dream, we continued to work hard and now we are going international!

BUY the English edition

You can read many new stories in the English collection 'Rebel Girls, Uplifting stories about courageous young women' (2026, Spinifex, 400 pages). Listen to angry Afghan girls who join an illegal English class, and who worry that the world has forgotten all about them. Listen to Chinese and Taiwanese young women explaining hardcore misogyny in Confucius dominated societies. Read how you can protect the girls in your life from negative online influences, body shaming and humiliating porn.

German edition

Later this year we will also publish a German edition, partly similar, but it is especially adapted for a German audience. It includes an overview of the German situation by Eva Engelken, chairwoman of Frauenheldinnen (women heroes), a very inspiring feminist organisation. Of course we interviewed the famous Rona Duwe, a woman so fierce that many intolerant leftists would like nothing better than to see her locked up. (@Ronalyze on X). The youngest German contributor is the Yezidi lesbian Azadiya, who wrote the book 'Um Mein Leben' ('For My Life') about 'honour killings' and her escape from a toxic home.

The title of the German version of the Rebel Girls' Project will be 'Null-Bock auf Frausein. Wie frei sind unsere Töchter heute?' and the publisher is Diametric Verlag.

We can proudly say that the Rebel Girls Project now consists of over seventy participants from all over the world. Ladies: thank you, all of you! Fun fact: the youngest girl is Djenna (12), the oldest is 80 years old. That's Dr. Renate Klein, one of the Spinifex directors, and our role model for a feminist future.

Press, PR, lectures, interviews

Many of our contributors are available for interviews or lectures. If you are a journalist or an organiser, please reach out to: uitgeverijhethaantje@gmail.com If you are a student writing a paper or thesis, you are welcome too. We will respond as soon as possible, from The Netherlands time zone.

Do you want your own language version of Rebel Girls? Let us know. We are waiting for Spain, France and China to come on board, because we'd love to see Spanish, French and Chinese version, including interviews with local heroines.
